Review and analysis of the long list ingredients reveal several things. The label states that the four regional protein ingredients are lamb, walleye, free-run duck, and whole eggs. Boneless free-range lamb is listed as the most abundant ingredient by weight. Fresh meats are very high in moisture level, and this moisture disappears upon cooking. This means that the actual protein contribution by the fresh lamb is not as high as might appear, since it is followed on the list by three meat meal sources, which are concentrated and higher in protein. Drier meat meals are necessary inclusions in the manufacture of a dry kibble. The other fresh protein sources appear a bit farther down the list.
