The first ingredient in this food is lamb meal, which is a high quality product made from cooked lamb. Meals are up to 300% higher in protein than fresh meat and are significantly lower in moisture content, which aids in the production of the dry kibble. Carbohydrates are provided by the grains. It is notable that this product has no wheat, corn, or soy elements, unlike some of the other Diamond products. The high fiber content of this food is created by the whole grains, by the flaxseed, but also by the powdered cellulose.
A review of the rest of the ingredients reveals the addition of L-carnitine that helps to keep your dog’s metabolism working at its best. Also, since many overweight dogs have joint trouble, glucosamine and chondroitin are present to help foster good joint function and to help prevent further joint injury.
